What are people buying?

The first thing to consider is what people are already buying in this niche. Are they buying e-books and downloadable videos or other digital products?

- Or are they buying consumable products, like vitamin pills, which they get through the mail and have tore-order on a regular basis?

- Or perhaps they are buying large items as a one-off purchase, such as machines for a home gym.

- Or are they buying services like online life coaching, internet marketing mentoring packages or internet-based career training of some sort?

You might find that they are buying more than one type of product. Fro example, someone who has a passion for dogs could be buying dog food and accessories, but also be interested in an e-book or videos on dog training.

So how do you find out what people are buying?

There are a number of ways in which you can do this. One of the easiest methods is to go to Google and type in your niche eg dog training, weight loss or women's fashion accessories. Now go to the right hand side of the page and look at the ads.
What is being advertised?

And how long are the ads there for? People are paying to get their ads on the first page of the search results and so they will only continue to pay for this if the ads are bringing results, in other words if they are making sales.
You can also look at the top ten pages in the organic search results, that is the natural results on the left of the page, to see how they are making money. Sites like Wikipedia and government or educational institutions often don't monetize their sites. But most sites are making money in some way.

Are they selling something or using advertising? Have a close look at the website to determine just how they are making money. Do they have AdSense or similar ads on the page? If you don't know what these are go to any article on EzineArticles website or about website and have a look at the ads.
