If you want to discover the best way to make money online, you will have to start by doing something you might not have been expecting, that is, giving something away free. This may sound counter intuitive, but it has been proven time and time again to be the way to go, if you want to kick start your home business online.
Why do you need to give something away if you want to make money? The reason is quite simple; you have to gain people's trust, by giving them high quality information for nothing. If you do that, they will be much more inclined to buy products from you in future.
Most people will not buy something online the first time they see it. Of course, there are exceptions, especially if the product is inexpensive and like the chocolates strategically placed at the supermarket checkout, designed to get people to buy on impulse.
But the general rule is that someone will not buy from you until they have heard from you at least seven times. But that is not the same thing as sending out seven emails trying to push them into buying. This will be discussed further in the article "Write Follow up Email "
So, what can you give people? The best plan is to create something of value which is related to the niche and which will help the buyer with his problem. However, you don't want to give away so much information that he doesn't need to buy the product you are promoting.
So you could create a short course, delivered by email which explains the first step in the process or you could create a shortened version of the product which provides some of the information in it, but not all of it.
Other possibilities are videos, which are very popular these days. So if you are promoting an exercise program which covers exercises for different parts of the body, you could provide a series of videos each containing one exercise for each area if the program itself gives say 5 exercises for each area.
Interviews with experts in a niche also make good free gifts. Go to a forum in your niche and find some of the questions which people are asking and which relate to the problem which your prospective buyers are trying to solve. For example, if your niche is how to play the guitar, you could interview a guitarist and get his best tips. A series of videos showing basic techniques would also be a good free gift.
