Obama - State of the Union
Barack Obama's first State of the Union Address focused on the economy, making job creation and sorting out the financial system his top priorities in his second year in office.
Reviews differ widely, as you would expect, with some commentators hailing it as an excellent address,while others criticize it as incoherent and disorganized.
One poll claims that 48% found it positive.
As with most speeches we hear from politicians, we'll have to wait and see if he is able to carry out his promises and if the economic situation has improved by this time next year.
He doesn't have an easy job, but then he knew that when he applied for the post.

World Economic Forum Davos 2010
The World Economic Forum (WEF) meets this week at Davos, a Swiss ski resort. The WEF is a non profit foundation which involves the bringing together of leaders in many fields including business, international political, journalist and academics. The meeting lasts for 5 days and their goal this year is to "Improve the State of the World: Rethink, Redesign, Rebuild".
Over the course of the week there will be more than 200 sessions to address pressing issues such as Haiti, the world economy and the environment.

Hope for Haiti and UK Single
The US telethon has raised over $61 Million to help those affected by the earthquake.
The event was hosted by George Clooney.
It is now 2 weeks since the earthquake hit, killing tens of thousands and leaving at least 2 million homeless.
Meanwhile in the UK, news of the recording of a charity CD version of Everybody Hurts, masterminded by Simon Cowell, have been in the news. Many celebrities are taking part, including Susan Boyle, Leona Lewis, Robbie Williams, James Morrison and Kylie.
The release date isn't yet known, but it is hoped it will be 7 February and it may be the biggest music download ever.

Reports today suggest that the UK recession is finally over, but how does that effect you, especially if you have suffered from a job loss or the loss of your investments?

Now that you have your auto responder set up, you need to link it to your website and the best way to do this is to create a squeeze page for your opt -in form

A squeeze page is a simple web page which gives your readers only two options - they can sign up or leave your site. There are no links to other pages on your site or to an affiliate sales page or any other page on the internet. In fact, may people start out with a one page website which is just a basic squeeze page.

If you want to discover the best way to make money online, you will have to start by doing something you might not have been expecting, that is, giving something away free. This may sound counter intuitive, but it has been proven time and time again to be the way to go, if you want to kick start your home business online.
Why do you need to give something away if you want to make money? The reason is quite simple; you have to gain people's trust, by giving them high quality information for nothing. If you do that, they will be much more inclined to buy products from you in future.
Most people will not buy something online the first time they see it. Of course, there are exceptions, especially if the product is inexpensive and like the chocolates strategically placed at the supermarket checkout, designed to get people to buy on impulse.
But the general rule is that someone will not buy from you until they have heard from you at least seven times. But that is not the same thing as sending out seven emails trying to push them into buying. This will be discussed further in the article "Write Follow up Email "
So, what can you give people? The best plan is to create something of value which is related to the niche and which will help the buyer with his problem. However, you don't want to give away so much information that he doesn't need to buy the product you are promoting.

What are people buying?

Career Choice and Family Support
Families can be our greatest support, but if they disagree with our big decisions, that support can seem to evaporate overnight. One of the main areas in which families fail to support their younger members is in the area of career choice.
Why is career choice such a contentious issue?
Many families have traditional ideas of what a good job is, while others have a family tradition in which just about everyone follows the same career.
In fact, years ago it was very common to expect the young men of the family to follow in their fathers' footsteps. This was easy to understand when most people spent their entire lives in a small area and there was a very limited choice of jobs on offer. It was unusual to move form one class to another and so if you were born into the working class, there was a high likelihood that you would enter the same trade as your father.
However, things have changed dramatically and young people have many more opportunities to move away from home to work and study and the choice of careers is staggering.
Yet many families still have an old-fashioned attitude towards work and expect their children to join the family firm, whether that is an actual company or a particular profession, such as law, medicine or teaching.
If your entire family, as far bask as everyone can remember has been made up of teachers, it can be very difficult to tell them that you want to do something else.
Of course, there are also plenty of families which don't have career traditions, but this doesn't mean they don't have strong opinions about what their children should do.
How can it be that parents claim they want what is best for you, yet try to force you into a career which does not hold the slightest attraction for you? If you dig a little deeper, you'll often find that this type of behaviour is usually rooted in fear.
It might be parents' fear of having to watch their children, you in this case, failing miserably and ending up unhappy and in debt. This is a typical reaction to young people who want to pursue a career in the arts - parents have visions of their offspring ending up as actors who spend more time waiting tables or artists starving in a bed-sit.
Ultimately, you have to decide for yourself what you are going to do with your life. If you give in to pressure from parents you may live to regret it, if you find yourself stuck in a job you hate. It's not easy to go against family advice and it may cause a strain in your relationship. But you do have the right to make your own decisions and even your own mistakes.
